CEIG work closely and collaboratively with firms to both enhance academic understanding of how firms grow, and provide guidance and analysis on their potential and capacity for development.

It serves as a hub for the variety of expertise within the Birmingham City Business School, with academics specialising in:

  • Business start-up and entrepreneurship,
  • Finance,
  • Management and governance,
  • Business strategy, and
  • Innovation.

Alongside delivering key academic outputs, publishing papers, winning research grants, and developing courses, CEIG also undertake applied practice and policy work. This involves working directly with firms, as key partners in the research process, and with varying state or lobbying organisations, including local authorities, Local Enterprise Partnership, and Chambers of Commerce.
