BCU named Official University Partner of the 2026 European Athletics Championships

Birmingham 2026 organisers are pleased to confirm that Birmingham City University (BCU) has today been unveiled as the Official University Partner of the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships, reinforcing its commitment to supporting major sporting events in the West Midlands while showcasing its strengths on a national and international stage.

ELO’s silver electric cello donated to Royal Birmingham Conservatoire

A one-of-a-kind silver electric cello that toured with ELO in the 1970s has been donated to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) by former band member Mel Gale. The instrument joins the Richard Tandy memorabilia collection, which was given to RBC last year and is now housed in the Richard Tandy Production Suite.

BCU in Top 10 for Social Mobility

Birmingham City University (BCU) has once again been ranked among the UK’s top 10 higher education providers for social mobility. The latest English Social Mobility Index, compiled by London South Bank University (LSBU) and published by the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI), places BCU seventh out of 100 universities—up one place from last year.
