Film production technology student chosen to operate camera at Commonwealth Games

Current Film Production Technology student Valentine Wallace has successfully been appointed as a Press Conference Camera Operator for the Commonwealth Games.

Valentine had to go through an interview process and showcase her work at a live rugby match at the AJ Bell Stadium in Manchester earlier this year.

She said: “I applied for the games last summer and heard back from the production team at the end of last year. Once I passed the first part of the application, I was able to attend a work experience day where I camera shadowed for a live rugby match.

“A few months after that, I was invited for an interview in Birmingham where I met two lovely women working for the production company Sunset+Vine. I then received a phone call in May, where I was told I was in for the games as my chosen role of Press Conference Camera Operator.

Valentine will also be working as a Camera Operator for gymnastics at Arena Birmingham and outdoor cycling in Wolverhampton.

She added: “Overall, it’s been an intense year wondering if I would be accepted, but I am looking forward to the games and the challenges that lie ahead.”
