Deborah Brennan
Debs qualified with a BSc (Hons) First Class in Adult Nursing from BCU in Jan 2020. She has a keen interest in acute and level 2 care, working first at a local Major Trauma Centre/Emergency Department before moving to an orthopaedic High Dependency Unit.
She has worked as both a practice supervisor and assessor becoming a student link nurse in HDU. She is deeply passionate about the student nurse experience both in the academic and placement setting and how students apply knowledge in practice.
In 2024, Debs transitioned into Clinical Education, becoming the interim Preceptorship Lead for all newly qualified staff at her trust including both NMC and HCPC registered staff. Here she helped continue to develop a 12 month long Preceptorship Programme, to support the transition to qualified practice. Her role also involved teaching clinical skills & manual handling to all staff, as well as teaching regularly on monthly student nurse skills days and weekly student teaching.
Other key interests include: Patient assessment (triage and A-E assessment), Managing acute deterioration and Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP).
She joined BCU in September 2025 as an Assistant Lecturer and currently teaches on NUR5079: Complex Care 2.
