Dannica qualified in 2017 from Birmingham City University with a nursing degree, launching a rewarding career rooted in compassionate care and clinical diversity.

In 2018 Dannica completed her neonatal foundation course during her time as a Neonatal Nurse. She cared for babies requiring different levels of respiratory support, providing family-centred care and coordinating plans for safe discharge. Those early experiences laid the foundation for understanding the importance of some of the core parts of care such as safeguarding and medication management.

Dannica then embraced the role of a disability assessor, analysing a range of conditions and medications and interpreting how they affect daily living and mobility. This further developed her ability to think critically, assess and rationalise care needs.

The main part of her career was in fertility nursing, where she cared for patients pre and post-operatively and also in theatre-based procedures. She consulted with patients and coordinated their care working closely across disciplines to cultivate care that was inclusive, responsive and most importantly patient centred. Dannica has also had experience working in an outpatients hospital where she provided primary care to patients and health promotion along side a pain specialist, orthopaedic consultant, cardiologist, ophthalmologist and GP’s.

Following this, during her role as a IV community nurse, Dannica administered total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and other IV therapies in patients homes. She also provided training to patients to allow them to self administer, promoting independence and inclusion. This transition to community nursing honed both her clinical autonomy and her capacity to connect with individuals in their own environments.

At her core, Dannica has always had a consistent passion: People. Nursing has provided her the opportunity to fulfil her passion for people and their betterment, no matter who they are. She endeavour to empower and support students through education and experience, to assist in the creation of confident, innovative and compassionate healthcare professionals. She want to bring light to and create new opportunities for students, and support them to acknowledge and actualise their full potential through experience informed education.
