Kevin Grey

Kevin creates unique pieces that use, almost exclusively, TIG welding techniques to join individually hand-formed pieces of silver. The mastery of the welding technique allows him to achieve the precision, scale, and dramatic impact of the work; however, technique is not his sole concern. The starting point for each piece is an emotional response: a desire to express a moment or set of ideas in physical form. These can be as varied as a scientific concept or lived experience of historical events.

For twenty-five years Kevin worked within the luxury automotive industry, hand-making bespoke pieces for Rolls Royce, Bentley, and the Morgan Motor Company. His accumulated knowledge of traditional skills passed on through the trade, coupled with new technologies and production processes, has provided a unique and original approach to making that extends beyond and complements the traditions of silversmithing.
