Sharvila is a Lecturer in Operating Department Practice at Birmingham City University. She contributes to undergraduate teaching across the programme and provides module leadership, supporting students to develop the professional knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for contemporary perioperative practice. Sharvila is an Operating Department Practitioner with clinical experience in anaesthetics and recovery.

Her areas of practice have included gynaecology, orthopaedics, ENT, general surgery, urology, and obstetrics. Prior to joining academia, she worked as a clinical educator, supporting the development of learners in practice and strengthening links between clinical and academic environments. Her teaching interests include leadership and management in healthcare, sustainability in healthcare practice, and supporting students to apply theory effectively within complex clinical settings.

She is particularly committed to developing students’ professional identity, confidence, and readiness for multidisciplinary team working. Sharvila is involved in scholarly activity and has contributed to professional publication within the IPP journal.
