Dr Asutosh Kar
Asutosh is a senior lecturer in Audio Engineering at the Department of Computer Science, Birmingham City University (UK). Asutosh is passionate about research in acoustic and audio signal processing, focusing on advanced methods in active noise and echo cancellation, speech processing, adaptive filtering, machine learning, and hearing-aid system design.
Prior to joining BCU, Asutosh served as an Associate Professor at NIT Jalandhar, India, where he led the Acoustic Signal Processing Research Group. He has also held the position of Faculty Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Pravartak, India.
Asutosh was awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (2015–2016) at Aalborg University, Denmark, and received national recognitions on behalf of the President of India in 2014 and 2015 for his contributions to engineering education and research.
Asutosh actively collaborates internationally with leading research groups, including the Signal Processing Group at Concordia University (Canada), Aalborg University (Denmark), ESAT Laboratory at KU Leuven (Belgium), Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics at the University of Oldenburg (Germany), Audio Analysis Lab at Aalborg University (Denmark), University of Kragujevac (Serbia), and KMITL (Thailand).
Asutosh has authored over 120 peer-reviewed scientific publications and successfully led seven research projects in his areas of expertise. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, a member of EURASIP, and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processing (Springer).
Asutosh holds an M.Tech. in Signal Processing from NIT Hamirpur and a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from BIT Mesra, completed in 2011 and 2015, respectively.
