City South Facilities

City South Campus in Edgbaston, to the south of Birmingham City Centre, is home to our Health, Education and Life Sciences courses. Our exciting campus offers a wide variety of food and drink facilities, including restaurants and cafés. There is ample study space for both individual and group study and there are various on campus services available to answer your queries. Check out some of our facilities below.

City South Campus is home to a variety of restaurants and cafés all serving delicious hot and cold food and drink that you can sit in and enjoy or take away with you.

Students’ Union Lounge

Located at the rear of the original building, the Students’ Union Lounge food options include panini and filled jacket potatoes, with a breakfast menu and pre-order service available. Fairtrade teas, coffees and juices are available. Open 8am to 6pm weekdays.

South Canteen
City South Café

City South Café

If you’re feeling really peckish head to City South’s café. Food options alternate, with daily specials including soups and heartier meals like fish and chips. You can enjoy your food in the café’s seating area or take your purchase away. City South Café is based in the original building. Open weekdays 8am to 5.30pm.

Located on the Ground Floor of the original building, to the left of the IT Suite, you will find a Costa Coffee. Here you can buy food and drink to take away including panini, toasties, coffees and cold drinks. Or you can enjoy your purchases in the sofa seating area opposite. Costa Coffee is open from 8am to 6pm.

A campus essential. Grab yourself a coffee between lectures to give yourself a study boost. A range of hot and cold food and drink are also available. You will find Starbucks in the main entrance area as you come through the barriers. Open weekdays 8.30am to 3.30pm.

The best place to get your snack fix and top up on stationary as well as buy your essential BCU hoodie. The BCUSU Shop is open from 8.30am to 3.30pm weekdays and is on the Ground Floor at the rear of the original building next to the Students’ Union Office.

Vending machines containing a variety of food and drink are located on the Ground Floor of the original building next to the City South Café. Next to the vending machines are the microwaves where you can heat your own food. Both facilities are accessible at all times.

You will find plenty of social and quiet study space at City South Campus located across all floors of the building.

IT Suite

Located on the Ground Floor is the IT Suite containing 64 computers. Laptop hire is also available with 48 laptops. There is an IT Helpdesk and social study space as well as printers for your printing, copying and scanning needs. Additional PCs are available in the Atrium area.

Shared Work Areas

On the Ground Floor of the new extension you will find a variety of shared work areas on offer for group work. Pods are available with screens for your personal laptop to connect to for when you may be working on shared work projects with fellow students.

The Mary Seacole Library, on the Ground Floor of the original building, is one of the largest specialist health education libraries in the UK. The library also offers Life Sciences and Education materials, as well as comfortable study areas.

There is a dedicated Students’ Union Office located on the Ground Floor of the original building for all student enquiries. BCUSU advisers hold advice sessions Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. You can get advice on everything from Health and Wellbeing to Housing and more.

City South Campus is easily accessible by all modes of transport and is easy to find, situated to the south of Birmingham between Westbourne Road and Harborne Road in leafy Edgbaston.
