Parkside Building

The Parkside Building is part of the City Centre Campus expansion and provides a state-of-the art home for the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media, incorporating the Parkside Media House

Filming and TV Studios

The Parkside building boasts four film and TV studios, three of which are able to do live multi-camera production and all studios (TV and radio) can be interconnected. 

The fourth is a green screen studio for recording material that will then have CGI (computer-generated imagery) added to form the final image. Plus a BOLT JR+ camera rig.

6 Radio studios

Our radio studios can work independently, or be linked together to form a radio station. It is possible to get audio from any part of our media building.

Photography studio

Our high spec and fully equipped photography studios can be used collaboratively across the creative courses.

Gallery suite

Where production, lighting, camera control, graphics and Autocue are controlled. We have broadcast-standard Sony monitors and three of their new full-HD digital vision mixing desks

Print room

Our Print Making workshop is a treasure trove of different facilities for you to work on your linoprinting, screenprinting, etching, hot foil pressing, letterpressing, book binding and more. We are open 5 days a week from 9.30-5.30 and our expert technician is always on hand to offer advice and guidance on using equipment.

Dubbing and post-production suite

The Media Centre has four fully industry-standard edit & dubbing suites, based on the industry-standard Avid editing system and ProTools desk, which is used in almost all films and the majority of UK television. 

Parkside gallery

Parkside Gallery is a leading art and design exhibition space within Birmingham City University's Parkside Building, with an emphasis on, but not confined to, design-led practice.

Metal workshops

Our metal fabrication workshop gives you access to a range of metal welding equipment and techniques including tig welding and plasma cutting.

food and drink

From a Starbucks in the atrium to a dedicated cafe on Level 3, the Parkside Building has a plethora of food and drink options. Whether it's a drink, a bite to eat or a full meal; you will be sure to find something to satisfy your cravings!

Woodwork studio

Our woodwork studio gives you hands-on access to the tools you need to produce furniture and products, to scale architectural models

3D CAD lab

Our 3D CAD Lab includes 3D printers - perfect for scale models, prototyping and concept development.

Architecture Studio

Our Architecture studios are flexible spaces, perfect for individual and group work.

As well as being a vast learning space for students, Parkside becomes an exciting hub for events and productions. As a creative, Parkside is the place to be for work experience, collaboration opportunities and getting the hang of professional facilities and equipment.
