Welcome Message

Welcome to Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at BCU. We are delighted that you have chosen to join us.

The next few days and weeks are an exciting time, as you prepare for this next stage of life, meet people and have new experiences. We want to make sure you make the most of the opportunities available to you, so please read the welcome information provided here. I’d like to reassure you that there is lots of help and advice available, now and when you start your course, and that you will be supported throughout your studies by our tutors and support staff.

Please do come along to our Induction Week, commencing on 14 September. This is an important part of your university experience and has been designed to help you settle into university life, meet your fellow students and staff, familiarise yourself with campus, and gain an understanding of what to expect from your studies.

I also encourage you to make the most out of Students' Union Fairs on 15-17 September. These events offer you an excellent opportunity to discover clubs and societies and the wider university community.

I and the rest of the course team look forward to welcoming you soon.

First day on Campus

We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham City University!

You must have your ID card visible at all times when on campus, so if you have received yours before your first day, ensure you bring this with you. If you enrolled late you will need to collect one on campus during your first few days. Please remember that your ID card is for your use only. You must never let anyone else use it.

To complete your enrolment, you will need the following:

  • Passport (or other form of photo ID if you are a UK/EU student)
  • Original qualification documents if applicable (you will be emailed a list of the documents we need to see once you have completed your online enrolment)
  • Visa (international students only)

What else? The rest is up to you! You will find a shop, café, pub, computer access and water fountains on campus, but we do recommend you bring the following on the first day:

  • Laptop, if you have one
  • Notepad and pen
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Snack
  • Money

And remember, the weather in Birmingham can be changeable!
