Top Tips for a University Interview
We know interviews can be daunting. We want you to do as well as possible, so have put together some top tips on how best to prepare yourself for interview.
-
Be on time
- It is always best to be early, so you have time to prepare yourself.
-
Behave professionally
- You need to show that you are ready to study a professional course so be mindful of what you wear, and how you conduct yourself. Take out your earbuds and keep your phone out of sight, whether your interview is in person or online. This will help to put you in the best mindset to be interviewed.
-
Be in a calm, quiet environment
- Try to find a space where you can be alone to avoid any distractions so you can focus on your interview.
-
Be yourself
- You may have made notes in advance of your interview, but try not to read straight from them during your interview. Your interviewers want to get to know you, and hear your answers to questions.
-
Nerves are normal
- Everyone is nervous when attending an interview, but pushing your interview date back only prolongs your nerves, so do try and attend the first interview date that you book, if at all possible.
-
Technical issues happen
- Your internet may cut out, or your laptop may shut down. We know that this can and does happen sometimes. Please don’t worry, and if you do have any issues, try and rejoin your interview if you can. If you can’t, please call our Enquiries Team on 0121 303 6295 as soon as possible to explain the issue.
-
Give plenty of notice
- We understand that circumstances change, and you may not be able to attend your original interview date. If this happens, that’s ok, but please do let us know as soon as possible so that we can release the slot to another applicant.
