Ben is currently involved in a number of research projects:
- The first research project explores notions of 'safety' and 'risk' on geo-social apps designed for gay and bisexual men, men that have sex with men, and trans communities. This is a mixed-methods research project utilising online surveys and in-depth qualitative interviews.
- The second research project focuses on 'inclusion' and 'exclusion' within Birmingham's 'gay village'. This is an ethnographic piece of research that utilises direct observations within these spaces, and semi-structured interviews with visitors to the 'gay village'.
- The final research project is analysing the experiences of staff and students who engage with sensitive, and controversial material within learning spaces.
