Dr Sam Parker is a critical social psychologist and joined Birmingham City University in August 2019. Prior to this he worked as a Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University where he also completed his PhD in 2018. His thesis looked at the ways in which refugees and asylum seekers in Wales discursively constructed accounts of integration. Sam also holds an MSc in Psychological Research Methods and Diploma in Psychology (Conversion for Postgraduates) from the Open University.

Sam’s research interests fall mainly within the areas of discursive psychology, race and forced migration. He is passionate about the use of qualitative research methods in psychology which he employs in his teaching.
