Richard was motivated to become an academic as a means of explaining the diversity of human behaviour. To this end, he studied psychology in order to understand the mental processes that underlie overt behaviour.

Richard enjoys contributing to various psychology modules. Above all, he appreciates that no academics are alike, and appreciates the diversity of information that students can experience.

As a holder of music and psychology degrees, Richard is interested in research that combines these disciplines. His current interests relate to the effects of background music on various cognitive processes. In a world where music is everywhere, Richard is keen to understand the detrimental effect this has on our cognitive abilities.
