That's Me Focus Groups: Final Year Undergraduate Students

The That’s Me! project team will be holding online focus groups with students presently studying in the final year of a bachelor's degree, and who identify as Global Majority, to understand how doctoral study is perceived.

A doctorate involves conducting independent postgraduate research on a topic you’re passionate about to create new knowledge, with the support of an expert supervision team. BCU is home to around 800 doctoral researchers, pursuing projects across all four BCU faculties. A doctorate can open a range of personal and professional opportunities, including international travel and networking, the potential to earn higher salaries, and develop skills that speak to a range of employers.

That’s Me! is a research project funded by Research England and Office for Students through a programme that “aims to tackle the evidenced year-on-year inequalities faced by Black, Asian and minority ethnic students in postgraduate research.”

More about the That’s Me! Project

With a focus on these Global Majority communities, That’s Me! is focused on improving access to postgraduate research study, for example PhD (Doctorate in Philosophy), EdD (Doctorate in Education) and DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) courses, in the West Midlands. The project is also exploring ways to better support students on those courses to be successful during their studies and in their subsequent careers.  BCU co-leads That’s Me! with the University of Wolverhampton.
