Aaron Winter

Lecturer in Sociology

Dr Aaron Winter, BA Honours in Political Science (York, Canada), MA in Philosophy and Social Theory (Warwick, UK), DPhil in Social and Political Thought (Sussex, UK), is Lecturer in Sociology in the School of Social and Health Sciences at University of Abertay Dundee.

He teaches in the areas of sociology of race and racism, sociology of war and terrorism, criminology and research methods. His research is on right-wing extremism, organised racism, hate crimes, terrorism and vigilantism. He is co-editor of and contributor to Discourses and Practices of Terrorism: Interrogating Terror (Abingdon: Routledge, 2010) and author of Civil Rights, 9/11 and a Black Man in the White House: White Separatism and the Politics of the American Extreme Right (Farnham: Ashgate, forthcoming 2014).

He is a member of the British Sociological Association (BSA), the BSA Race and Ethnicity Study Group and European Consortium for Political Research: Standing Group on Extremism and Democracy, as well as an Expert Analyst for the Extremis Project.
