Kevin Braybrook
Kevin works as a researcher within the RAYSD Lab and as Course Leader BSc Football Studies & MSc Football Performance for Southhampton Solent University. With an extensive career in professional football as a player, coach and within highly successful talent identification and talent development teams, Kevin has attained the UEFA Pro Licence which is recognised as the highest professional benchmark of a football practitioner. This depth of industry knowledge has been transferred into higher education, where Kevin is course leader for the BSc Football Studies and MSc Football Performance programmes at Southampton Solent University.
This impact has guided his continued academic journey as a current PhD student and active researcher, where his doctoral study focuses upon the concept of the “lone woman” in male football settings. This area explores the pathways and experiences of women coaches as they enter into and navigate throughout football. Specifically, the research examines learning, allyship and access to opportunities, and how these factors shape their contributions, visibility and impact in football.
In addition to this work, Kevin’s broader research interests include leadership pathways, talent identification, talent development, and coaching across the men’s and women’s game, which associates from potential to performance.
Progressing through the demands of the PhD, and as a member of the RAYSD Lab, Kevin continue to benefit from critical learning opportunities, a supportive research environment, and meaningful collaboration across topics which have the potential to generate impact far wider than his originally expertise and background.
