Jonathan’s research interests and publications lie within the subjects of Japanese cinema, world cinema, and distribution and marketing. Of particular interest to him are the processes by which films from other countries enter the UK and are distributed and consumed. This was the chief focus of his PhD thesis, and subsequent publications. A key aspect of this has also been home media formats – from VHS to DVD and Blu-Ray, as well as online and digital means. Home media consumption is currently an under-researched area in film and media studies – a state of affairs which Jonathan looks to change with his research outputs.
