Lucy Land is a Professor of Nursing. She teaches research methods to undergraduates and postgraduates in Nursing and Radiography, as well as supervising MSc and PhD projects.

After qualifying as a nurse in 1980, Lucy worked in haematology, caring for patients with leukaemia, sickle cell anaemia and other blood disorders. She then specialised in haemophilia, becoming one of the first clinical nurse specialists, and developing a regional outpatient and home treatment service.

Following this successful clinical career, Lucy became a clinical nurse teacher and later qualified as a registered nurse tutor.

Lucy's interest in research developed after being awarded a competitive secondment to the West Midlands Regional Health Authority to study student nurse attrition rates. This was closely followed by further work from the authority to investigate pressure ulcer prevalence and prevention, as well as a study into the scope of professional nursing practice.
