In this session, we hear from Rebecca Lawrence. Rebecca has recently completed her PhD in prisoner rights under the European Convention on Human Rights at the University of Exeter. Her research interests include human rights, criminal law and criminal justice, and imprisonment.

About the Session

The presentation will discuss the potential impact of the proposed Bill of Rights on the protection currently offered to prisoners in the UK under the Human Rights Act. The reasons for the introduction of the Bill, aspects of the drafting and consultation process, and key provisions will be discussed in turn before considering the specific impact of the bill on the rights of prisoners.
