Cost of Living Crisis

This seminar has now concluded but it is available on demand here.

This seminar is hosted by the College of Law, Social & Criminal Justice Research Seminar Series. Our series offers exciting insights into ongoing research projects within the law school and conducted by our external research partners. We often feature work from our research centres. Join us for invigorating discussion!

In this session, we hear from Liam Miles. Liam is a final year PhD researcher exploring how the Cost-of-Living Crisis has impacted young people in Birmingham. He deployed ethnographic methods across two Birmingham based youth centres. Liam has also taught across a variety of modules in Criminology and Sociology, with a particular focus on social theory, political economy and youth studies. Alongside this, Liam is working on a number of articles that are intended to be submitted for publication.

In this session, Liam will give the following presentation, followed by an interactive Q&A:

How is the Cost of Living Crisis Affecting Young People in Birmingham? An Ethnographic Study

This presentation will delve into the research findings on the effects of the cost-of-living crisis on young people in Birmingham. The presentation will break down the intended impact of the research moving forward.
