Dr Md Rubel Khondoker

Dr Md Rubel Khondoker is a Lecturer in Finance at Birmingham City University. He holds a PhD in Finance from Middlesex University London, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and has over a decade of experience teaching finance at undergraduate and postgraduate level in UK higher education.

Rubel secured CFA University Affiliation status for the BSc (Hons) Finance and Investment, strengthening the link between the curriculum and professional practice. He also manages the course’s relationship with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). He leads modules in Financial Derivatives, Research skills and Dissertation, and supervises Doctoral research.

Before joining BCU in 2023, Rubel lectured at Middlesex University London, where he was Programme Leader for the MSc Banking and Finance. He is an External Examiner at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) and a peer reviewer for academic journals.

His research interests include financial derivatives, investment, corporate governance, financial intermediation and tourism economics. He is passionate about giving students an engaging, industry-relevant learning experience that prepares them for careers in finance.
