Maria is the Course Lead for the multi-agency MSc Safeguarding programme. She is an experienced academic and specialist community public health nurse (health visitor) by background, with additional qualifications/ experience as a midwife and general nurse. Maria is an Associate Editor of Child Abuse Review and has honorary roles in the NHS and with Public Health England. Maria completed her PhD (Sociology) in 2008 at the University of Bristol and has worked in higher education ever since. She has long-standing interests in global transnational issues, health inequities, community healthcare and women and children’s health. She has promoted sustainable healthcare through elective placement learning in Universities and in NHS contexts. Her small-scale qualitative work spans the spectrum of literature reviews, service evaluation and empirical research. Maria supervises MSc dissertation and PhD students and welcomes new applications.
