Kara is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing and is a co module lead for the Delivering high quality, safe nursing care within adult nursing module within the Adult Nursing programme. Kara is also the module lead for the Introduction to Palliative and End of Life Care module which is part of the Post Qualifying Professional Practice Programme.

Kara qualified as a RGN in 1994 from the Coventry and Warwickshire School of Nursing and has worked within, Renal Medicine, Upper GI & Breast surgery, Haematology and more recently End of Life Care. Kara’s End of Life Care experience was predominantly in a Hospice setting where she worked as a staff nurse, sister, clinical nurse specialist and clinical education lead. During this time she also held a Lecturer Practitioner role with BCU and a local Hospice. In a previous role Kara has worked with care homes through delivery of the Gold Standards Framework and has developed and delivered a Hospice education programme which included a national distance learning end of life course. Kara is also a SAGE & THYME communication skills facilitator and has designed and delivered education programmes around End of Life care for Health Education West Midlands.
