Birmingham City University graduate wins Royal Television Society Award

A Birmingham City University graduate in Animation has won a prestigious Royal Television Society Student Animation Award for his stop motion film Til Death Do Us Part.

The Royal Television Society (RTS) is a British-based educational charity and the leading forum for television and related media. The RTS Awards are the gold standard of achievement in the television community. The Student Television Awards recognise the best audio-visual work created by full or part-time students as part of their course.

Ben Whitehouse completed his degree in Animation at Birmingham City University in 2010 with first class honours. His winning short film illustrates a lighthouse keeper’s relationship with his deceased wife and can be seen at Ben’s website: http://www.stopmotionben.com/

Mr Kelvin Wong, Acting Course Director for BA in Animation, said: “I am sure this would be the beginning of his journey to a successful career. Ben's achievement has also elevated Birmingham City University's recognition for excellence in the creative arts.”
