Final-Year BA (Hons) Graphic Communication students launched their online graduate show, FORWARD, on Friday 12 June, showcasing the work of over 100 design students graduating this year.
FORWARD is rooted in the idea that ‘progress is not linear’. The show explores the idea of embracing the inevitable twists and turns of life to progress, and recognises that graduates will choose different directions, and careers will take unexpected detours. FORWARD aims to address the current uncertainty and approach it with optimism.
The entire show is available online, where viewers can browse through the graduates’ work and find their bio and contact details.
Alongside the online exhibition, the students behind FORWARD have also curated a series of over 30 talks and Q&As with leading designers from around the UK. These talks aim to inspire and educate fellow students, as the next generation of designers looking to break into the creative industries.
Speakers include Adrian Shaughnessy, Tina Touli, James Greenfield, Michael C Place, Sarah Boris, Jim Sutherland, Eve Warren, Rob Draper and more. The talks are being released daily throughout June and July and are available on the FORWARD Instagram page and on the Talks section of the website.
BA (Hons) Graphic Communication student Tom McElroy, who has designed and coordinated the show alongside fellow student David Henshaw, said: “The experience has been challenging at times and Covid-19 has made it even harder.
The show and talks are available to view on the FORWARD website.
