Digital advertisers Adaptable recently spent eight weeks with our second- and third-year Visual Communication students, offering them valuable industry insight and mentorship for digital advertising.
Students were put into groups and worked to a brief that would help further both their university work and creative skills.
The programme served as an introduction to brand design and advertising. The students were asked to challenge typical retail branding and to show all their thought processes before creating a prototype and pitching their final idea.
The students were mentored along the way to see if all opportunities had been met, while Adaptable creatives Daniel Cooper and Olly Sorsby demonstrated how the company work to tackle briefs.
Student feedback found that students found both the process and the end project extremely helpful.
Visual Communication student Daniel Hansel said: “I really enjoyed the experience, I liked the way that there wasn’t too many boundaries and we could go off into our own areas, such as in-store or online advertising, it made the project more personal as well.”
Adaptable co-founder and Birmingham City University graduate Daniel Cooper said: “Everyone has been able to take away new approaches and thinking methods and the students were really enthusiastic about the whole programme. The feedback we have had has been excellent and the outstanding teams from the programme will be invited to Adaptable for a portfolio review session.”
