Reader in Criminology Dr Liz Yardley has celebrated success at this year’s Extra Mile Awards, winning Academic of the Year in recognition of her nationally acclaimed research.
Students on our Criminology and Sociology programmes benefit from being taught by a cutting edge researcher. Liz has published six peer reviewed articles in the last 12 months in high ranking journals. One of her co-written articles about ‘family annihilation’, was cited in the House of Commons as "research that should be listened to”, was covered in every major newspaper in this country and also made news headlines internationally.
Appearances on major TV and radio outlets aid her contribution to the public's awareness of the complexity of issues such as family annihilation, the ‘privatisation’ of family life, murder and serial murder, while also serving to promote the University.
