Looking to begin a rewarding career in nursing? Birmingham City University is now welcoming applications for April degree programmes in mental health and adult nursing.
Each year over 1,000 health and social care students join Birmingham City University, studying at City South Campus, based in Edgbaston.
Students joining the course will benefit from top-of-the-range facilities including several mock hospital wards, a birthing room, an operating theatre, a physiology and biomedicine laboratory and a selection of Simulation Men (SIM men) and Simulation Babies (SIM babies) - leading edge mannequins which are used to replicate real patient symptoms, allowing students the opportunity to enhance and practice key skills.
Third year mental health nursing student Emma Linden, was attracted to the course after recommendations from former students.
She said: “I had spoken to people who had studied at Birmingham City University and heard great things about the lecturers - all of which turned out to be true! I was also impressed by the resources available at the University which appear to be unlimited.”
Work placements have given Emma the chance to work in a range of environments, enabling her to put theory into practice.
“Placements have given me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of mental health teams, providing services in older adult, acute, rehab and community nursing. The experience is preparing me well for the realities of life as a mental health nurse.”
