The School of Nursing and Midwifery has once again seen shortlist success in the Student Nursing Times Awards, with 11 nominations for five different categories in this year’s awards.
The Awards recognise outstanding educational institutions that offer courses to develop the leadership, management and clinical skills of aspiring nurses, and which provide an educational environment that nurtures and develops the talent of qualified nurses.
Nominations include ‘Nurse Education Provider of the Year: Pre-registration courses’, which recognises institutions that nurture and develop the talent of aspiring nurses. The University has also been nominated twice for ‘Teaching Innovation of the Year for Community Simulation for Trainee Nursing Associates and NP1 Student Mentors’.
Professor Ian Blair, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences, said:
“I want to offer my sincerest congratulations to everyone that have been nominated in these awards. The Faculty is absolutely delighted with the quality of nominations and impressive projects taking place.
Meanwhile, Andrew Powell, Senior Lecturer in Clinical Human Physiology, has been nominated in the ‘Educator of the Year’ category.
Elsewhere, students Charlie Banister, Claire Gault, Eleanor Read and Rebecca Shepherd have been nominated for ‘Student Nurse of the Year Mental Health’, with Amy Turton shortlisted for ‘Student Nurse of the Year Learning Disabilities’.
The University is also nominated for ‘Partnership of the Year’ for ‘Theory into Practice’ and the ‘Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion’ for the ‘Cultural Ambassador’ initiative.
The winners of each category will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will take place in London on Friday 26 April.
