The BCU Big Breakfast

University News Last updated 26 January 2015

Are you a breakfast person? If not, Mel Wakeman, one of our Senior Lecturers in Nutrition and Applied Physiology wants to encourage you to change your mind.

With the rush of a typical morning, it can be easy to forget about eating something, but a bit of breakfast can make a big difference to your day. Studies show that taking the time to eat breakfast can improve memory and concentration levels, improve mood, lower stress levels and even make us happier. It can also have several long-term health benefits including reducing the risks of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.

Therefore, Mel has organised ‘The BCU Big Breakfast’ - a week-long event at the Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences at our City South Campus from 26 – 30 January. Each day, between 8am and 11am, the cafeteria will provide a range of tasty new breakfast ideas, including yoghurt and fruit pots, porridge, bagels and tasty frittatas. Mel will also be on hand between 8am and 10am, on 26 and 27 January in the mezzanine area of Seacole Building armed with a wealth of information and advice.

So why not come and see why breakfast could be the best start to your day!
