The Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences' Ann Cubbin, Programme Director for Community Health Nursing, has won the Extra Mile award for Engaging and Inspiring Teacher.
Ann was presented with the award at a special ceremony on Wednesday 13 May at City Centre Centre Campus. She received nominations from a number of her students thanks to her teaching talents which have been described as "inspirational, relevant and engaging."
One of her students writes: "I believe it is down to her that I am so passionate about my role as a district nurse and because of this I am making a real difference for the better in the community I serve."
"Thanks to Ann's support and encouragement not only have I gained a first degree I want to come back to university and complete a masters. I want to share with others what she has passed on to me being confidence, leadership skills, friendship and support."
Another of her students writes: "She has inspired me to become the practitioner I am today, I know I speak on behalf of the whole year group when I say that her sessions are the most enjoyable and inspiring we have had during our time at the University."
