A day of women’s short films is being held at Birmingham City University. The event has been organised by the University’s Creative Networks which is based at Millennium Point in the city centre. The films are a selection of the 36 that were shown at the fifth A Corto Di Donne festival which was held in Naples, Italy in June 2009. The event was held to highlight the talent and creativity of women filmmakers from around the world.
The Birmingham event is taking place on Thursday 25 February, and will feature talks by the Italian festival’s organisers and some of the filmmakers. The screenings will start at 1.00pm, 3.30pm and 7pm and will include September, by British director Esther Mary Campbell, which was awarded best short film in the Fiction category.
The screenings will be followed by question and answer sessions and there will be the usual chance to network and attend a buffet between 6pm-7pm.
Organiser, Dave Taylor, said: “We’re delighted to be able to extend our regular monthly evening programme with these screenings starting at 1pm. This is a great opportunity to see some excellent films and meet with the festival’s organisers and some of the filmmakers, a warm welcome awaits our speakers and our audience.”
