World famous fashion photographer, Eliot Siegel, hosted a special workshop with MA Freelance Photography students at the School of Media last month.
Eliot Siegel, a fashion photographer with 25 years experience, has shot for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Company, Selfridges, Bloomingdales, Macy’s New York and Reebok amongst many others in his vast portfolio. Eliot is also the author of the book, Fashion Photography Course.
Eliot delivered a full day hands-on workshop for MA Freelance Photography students, who were eager to learn all they could from the industry professional. Seven models were supplied by the Alan Sharman Model Agency and Eliot shot with each of the models whilst talking through his working process with the students. The students then photographed each of the models in turn, under Eliot’s creative guidance, and came away with fantastic insight into how a professional fashion photographer works.
Eliot had this to say on the experience, “I just wanted to say thank you very much for having me come up and give my workshop in fashion and beauty photography to the brilliant bunch of Freelance Photography students at the School of Media.
The studio facilities were excellent which helped me get all my relevant points across to the students. The photography department is well equipped, and plenty of lighting and backgrounds were available to the students to photograph seven professional models.
All in all, I had a brilliant day, and your students were clearly absorbing most of the ideas I was passing on to them. They are very lucky to be in this wonderful program, taught by a very knowledgeable lecturer in Julian Kilsby.”
Julian Kilsby, Award Leader for MA Freelance Photography also commented on the experience, “Eliot’s workshop was a great success, the students and I had been looking forward to this for some time and nobody was disappointed. For the students it was a great opportunity to watch, and work with, a photographer with so many years’ experience and such a high-profile portfolio. Everybody came away armed with some very valid professional insights and new creative photographic techniques, as well as a lot of great shots. This was just one of a series of hands-on events/workshops that we’re running as part of our MA Freelance Photography course featuring leading photographers in their respective fields.”
