Students from Birmingham City University have proved they are the creative cream of the crop.
They scooped 17 out of 21 awards - the most awards gained by any of the city’s universities - in the annual B-Hive competition which celebrates the best in up and coming Marketing, PR, Advertising, Graphic Design and Web Design talent.
Organised by creative industries recruiters, Pitch, the competition is open to all students who are currently in their second, third or final year of higher education study in Birmingham, and those who graduated in 2010.
It offers entrants the opportunity to win one of 30 paid placements. Entrants fulfil a brief and the best ones are to present to a panel of industry experts during a two day event in March 2011. The winners are awarded a valuable month’s experience at a top Birmingham agency to help open doors within a highly competitive industry. The placements are particularly valuable in the current economic climate and provide students and graduates with the opportunity to meet influential people, showcase their talents and build their network of industry contacts.
Winners also receive a bespoke training course courtesy of Graduate Advantage with the overall winners of each category also receiving a place on Birmingham Future’s mentoring scheme.
The winners came from both the University’s School of Media and its Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD). Degree Leader in Public Relations Peter Wilby said: “We are delighted that our students have swept the board at this year’s B Hive awards. This outstanding success illustrates the University’s links with industry and its commitment to producing highly employable graduates.”
Birmingham City University is currently running a major awareness campaign in the Midlands to demonstrate how it is upgrading the future of its students, businesses and other individuals and organisations that it works with.
