The BCU India Group hosted a delegation of Indian business owners at STEAMhouse on Thursday 2 February as part of the West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) initiative: West Midlands India Partnership, which aims to boost UK-India relations, trade, investment and partnerships between the West Midlands and India.
The delegation from The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry was given a tour of STEAMhouse by Head of Growth and Incubation in Research, Innovation, Enterprise and Employability (RIEE) Richard Scutt as part of a wider trip to Birmingham.
The delegation was made up of Indian business founders, owners and directors looking to grow their businesses in Birmingham working with WMGC and STEAMhouse.
Home to a multi-disciplinary community of entrepreneurs, businesses, academic researchers, and students, STEAMhouse offers support to companies of all sizes to boost growth through innovation to address business and societal challenges.
STEAMhouse is central to BCU’s commitment to the STEAM agenda, which places the Arts at the centre of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) disciplines.
In 2019, Indian motorbike and cycle manufacturer Hero Group and BCU established the Munjal BCU Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MBCIE), STEAMhouse India, to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the State of Punjab.
The MBCIE project was discussed by delegates and members of staff from STEAMhouse, due to the opportunities on offer to businesses.
