The University will be welcoming one of the UK’s top economists to the Parkside Building next month.
Vicky Pryce, former head of the Government Economic Service, will be speaking at an event organised by Idea Birmingham, the University-led think tank.
Ms Pryce’s forthcoming talk coincides with the publication of Ms Pryce's latest book ‘Prisonomics’ (Biteback Publishing) which draws on the diaries she kept during imprisonment.
The book is said to be a very personal account, examining prison life but also a hard-hitting analysis of the cost to the economy of keeping women in prison.
Ms Pryce will be revealing the economic and personal cost of sending women to prison in the lecture theatre of the Parkside Building on Wednesday 16 October from 6pm to 8pm.
