This month’s Creative Networks event at Birmingham City University promises to be an enthralling evening of light and sound shows, led by Thinktank’s Planetarium, the UK’s first purpose-built digital dome.

The 360° digital medium, known as ‘fulldome’, immerses viewers in high-resolution video and surround sound, opening up endless creative possibilities for artists and filmmakers to create completely new, interactive and immersive experiences.

The event at Millennium Point on Thursday 30 May will provide audience members with opportunities to encounter the fulldome experience as well as hearing from artists who have used the digital medium to develop creative performance and interactive pieces.

With three to four digital domes opening worldwide each month, filmmakers now have another cinematographic language to work with, where historically domed theatres existed only to serve as planetariums for exploring the night sky.

Creative Networks brings together parties involved in screen and sound media in the West Midlands, promoting both successful business development and collaboration.

The event runs from 5.45pm until 8:45pm at Birmingham City University’s Millennium Point campus. To book your place email creative.networks@bcu.ac.uk, call 0121 331 5400, or register online at the Creative Networks website.

The event follows the Birmingham Music Network and the Birmingham Screen Image Network, taking place from 4pm until 5.30pm.
