Special event celebrates 20th Anniversary of ‘The Big Issue’

As part of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘The Big Issue’, the University will be hosting a special talk by renowned photographer Paul Wenham-Clarke.

The event is part of an exhibition called ‘Hard Times’ which has been commissioned by The Big Issue to mark its 20th anniversary.

‘Hard Times’ is a series of portraits which document the lives and experiences of some of the people who act as Big Issue vendors. Paul’s dramatic display is on show now at St. Martins in the Bullring, the exhibition has already earned the Association of Photographers Gold Award, the world’s highest accolade for professional photography.

Paul Wenham-Clarke has more than twenty years experience as a professional photographer. During his career he has been presented with a number of awards including the Commonwealth European Photo Prize and Professional Photographer of the Year. In 2007 he became a Senior Lecturer in Photography at one of the country's leading art institutions: The Arts University College at Bournemouth.

The lecture will be taking place on 29th September from 6pm to 8pm in the Lecture Theatre at BIAD, Birmingham City University, Margaret Street. The event is free of charge and welcome to all. Please RSVP to events@rewiredpr.com if you are interested in attending.
