The University has launched a campaign which will recognise the University’s most outstanding students and members of staff.
The Tell Us Your Story awards, which are being run for a second year, aim to highlight some of the amazing work done by people at the University, both staff and students.

This year’s awards are introducing two new categories to ensure that everyone across the University has a chance to take part.
- Undergraduate student of the year
- Postgraduate student of the year
- Non-academic staff of the year
- Academic staff of the year
The winners of this year’s awards will be recognised at a high profile event in 2013.
Last year’s staff winner was Lecturer and Mooting Society Director Graham Wright. Thanks to Graham, the University now boasts one of the most successful mooting societies in England and has enjoyed considerable success at a national level. University students have reached five finals over the last few years and have regularly beaten teams from some of the country’s most prestigious universities including Oxford and Cambridge.
Law student Siobhan Freeman was named as the winner of last year’s student award. Siobhan’s personal story is one that demonstrates how much can be achieved at University with hard work and commitment.
Siobhan returned to university as a mature student and a single parent to a young daughter and has strived to do her best, representing the University in mooting competitions and taking part in the mentoring scheme.
Her hard work has paid off; she was recently awarded a highly prestigious £6,000 law scholarship from Lincoln's Inn, one of the UK’s four Inns of Court which prepares students for the Bar.
Nominations for this year’s awards are now open, for more information and to make your nomination visit the website. The closing date for applications is 30 September.
