Co-founder of the Academy Award winning Aardman Animations studio and film director Peter Lord is to speak at a free event in Birmingham next month, taking audience members behind the scenes of his latest Oscar-nominated feature film - The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists.

Aardman is best known for its work on films using stop-motion clay animation techniques, including Arthur Christmas, Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

The event on Monday 11 March is hosted by Animation Forum West Midlands (AFWM), a free-to-join support network for animators and those working in the animation sector in the West Midlands region. Tickets for the event were sold out in 24 hours.

Initially established in 2006, AFWM is managed by Birmingham City University and is currently funded by Creative England.

Peter will be providing an insight into some of the techniques, science and artistry that went into Aardman’s latest feature film, followed by an audience Q&A session.
