University News Last updated 12 August 2011

A second night of calm has passed peacefully across Birmingham as police continue to arrest those involved with the disorder that occurred earlier this week.

As the City begins to return to normal, Birmingham City University’s buildings and facilities are also open as usual today, Friday 12 August, and the University’s scheduled events and activities will go ahead as planned.

However, if any students, or parents of student have any queries they may contact Student Services on 0121 331 5588, which is open from 0900-1700 (BST)

In the short term, if disorder should breakout again, the advice is:

  1. To avoid going out after dark.
  2. To remain in groups whilst travelling outside of the University.
  3. If you see any disorder, leave the area immediately.
  4. To not attempt to cross police cordons.
  5. To ensure you can contact a friend, in the event of an emergency.
  6. To keep up-to-date by listening/watching news bulletins on local radio or television.
