New School gets new Dean as Professor Aneiba steps up

Professor Adel Aneiba has been appointed Dean of Birmingham City University's (BCU) new School of Architecture, Built Environment, Computing and Engineering (ABCE).

Currently Head of Computing at BCU, Professor Aneiba (pictured) said: "I am truly honoured and grateful for the opportunity to take on this position.

“I look forward to contributing my best efforts by bringing fresh perspectives and collaborating with all my colleagues within the School of Architecture, Built Environment, Computing and Engineering, the University and wider stakeholders.

“I am committed to driving meaningful progress and positive outcomes in this role, and achieve our shared vision as stated in the BCU 2030 strategy."

Professor Aneiba has served in a number of academic and leadership roles at BCU since 2016.

Born in Libya, he was Head of Computer Networks at the University of Benghazi and was also a senior information and communications technology consultant for international organisations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

“Professor Aneiba has an important role to play in shaping the future of this newly formed School, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and driving forward the University's mission to transform lives through education,” said BCU Vice-Chancellor Professor David Mba.

"He brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence in teaching, research and innovation. His vision aligns seamlessly with the ambitions set out in our BCU 2030 strategy."
