“Supporting the development of nursing associates continues to be a privilege,” said conference organiser and BCU nursing associate lecturer Erin McKenzie.

With more than 700 learners on our programme, we are proud to say that we are the largest training provider delivering the FdSc Nursing Associate programme nationally.

The conference will demonstrate the value and positive impact of the nursing associate role and celebrate the success nursing associates have within the healthcare workforce.”

The nursing associate role has become increasingly important for the healthcare profession as it looks to address staffing issues among the nursing workforce.

The BCU conference is aimed at trainee nursing associates, registered nursing associates, clinical educators, and organisations and institutions which support and develop nursing associates in both education and clinical capacities.

Nursing associates play a vital role, allowing nurses to focus on patients with more complex needs, providing a career progression for healthcare assistants, and providing a progression route into becoming a registered nurse, increasing the supply of nurses,” said McKenzie.

“We understand the challenges and barriers both trainee nursing associates and registered nursing associates face with identifying opportunities for continual professional development.

The conference, which will include a mixture of shared plenary sessions and workshops, takes place on Wednesday 6 September at BCU’s City South campus (B15 3TN).
