Those looking for a new challenge next year now have a choice of learning opportunities at Birmingham City University.
Prospective students don’t have to wait until the traditional autumn term to start their studies - they can enrol and start learning almost immediately in 2011.
During January and February a number of postgraduate programmes are being run across five faculties at the University. Courses on offer include a range of MBA programmes based at Birmingham City Business School and a suite of courses at the Faculty of Technology, Engineering and the Environment. The School of Media, School of English, Faculty of Health and Faculty of Education, Law & Social Sciences also have courses on offer.
And what better institution to embark upon a postgraduate course? In 2008 the prestigious national Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) saw Birmingham City University being placed in a ‘supergroup' of modern universities spearheading research excellence to the very highest quality, while at the same time maintaining a strong commitment to teaching and professional practice. The University’s 107% increase in research funding is directly related to the excellent quality of work undertaken - much of it world class. This is one of the largest increases in funding across the sector.
And what better recommendation of Birmingham City University’s knowledge and expertise than the wealth of professional recognition the University receives? So many of the University’s programmes are accredited by professional bodies and the University also has strong links with industry, leading companies and professional bodies to ensure courses are current, relevant, dynamic and innovative. With many courses offering work placement opportunities, valuable professional experience gives prospective students outstanding career prospects.
“The University is offering a variety of courses in January and February, from automotive engineering to international human rights,” said Shona McQuillan, Course Guidance Officer at Choices, Birmingham City University’s one-stop shop for course information and guidance.
“As a University we recognise that people have to fit their study into their own busy lifestyles. Therefore, a traditional academic year doesn’t suit everyone and so we offer enrolments in January and February. To further support people’s busy lifestyles we also have a number of courses available to study on a part-time basis. As well as a range of courses available through distance learning. There’s something to suit everyone at Birmingham City University.”
