Do you know someone who deserves to be honoured by the University for their work? Why not nominate them for an honorary degree?
Nominations are invited for the award of honorary degrees to be conferred at our graduation ceremonies in July 2017. Staff, students and members of the general public are all welcome to make nominations.
This year’s recipients included Jo Brand (pictured) who was recognised for her outstanding achievements as a comedienne, writer and actress, and for her exceptional contribution to promoting awareness of nurses in the mental health field. Other honorary graduates of the University include Jeff Lynne, Erin O’Connor, Frank Skinner, and Julie Walters.
Honorary Doctorates of the University are awarded to individuals who have provided an exceptional service to the City of Birmingham or its locality, have made outstanding contributions to public or professional life and command national/international recognition in their field, or have made an outstanding contribution to the work or interests of the University.
All nominations should be submitted by Friday 6 May 2016 in order to be considered at the next meeting of the Honorary Awards Committee. If you have any queries regarding the nomination process please contact the University Secretariat on Extension 6599 or 6570.
