Film-making protégé returns to his roots

A graduate will be returning to his roots this January as part of the latest in the Creative Networks event series.

Andrew Bond, who graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Film Production Technology in 2013, will be the guest speaker at the event 'The name's Bond...Andrew Bond: Adventures in film making' on Thursday 29 January, 5:45pm to 8:45pm.

Andrew will be speaking about his experiences of working alongside actor Idris Elba (best known for his roles in Prometheus, Luther and The Wire) and his success on Sky 1 programme The Ones to Watch.

Andrew's heart-warming film 'Howard’s Happy Place' caught the eye of film star Idris, who chose to mentor Andrew as part of the Sky 1 programme. Idris said: “When I first started this project I said I wanted to find someone who wanted to tell a story and inspire others. In Andrew, I feel I have found someone who has a similar aspiration and that is why I picked him.”

Andrew also has a keen interest in comedy and along with fellow graduates Ollie Firrel and Chris Stylianou, is one third of the comedy group Victorious Sponge, whose YouTube channel has gained a cult following in recent years. Join Andrew at this free event to hear about the amazing start to his film making career and how it felt to have his work broadcast to millions on Sky 1.

Creative Networks brings together all parties involved in screen and sound media in the West Midlands, promoting successful business development and collaboration.
