Birmingham City University students are encouraging local residents to ‘be green' about the clothing and fashion accessories they wear.

A group of Fashion Retail Management students will be showing off a collection of eco-fashion displays including innovative accessories made from recycled items to demonstrate how we can reuse, rework and recycle to produce original, design-led fashion at a three day event at Birmingham's Town Hall this week.

The student exhibition forms part of the ‘Changing Lifestyles' event organised by the Globally Local Group which aims to challenge the way we live our lives with sustainability and consideration for the environment at its core.

Jane Sarkar, Course Director on the Fashion Retail Management degree, said:
"Birmingham City University is really excited to be involved with such a relevant and forward-thinking project. Our students are leading the way with innovative solutions which demonstrate their awareness for sustainability within the fashion and retailing industries and our graduates will enter the work place with greater understanding and consideration for ethical and sustainable issues within fashion."

The Birmingham City University students will also be showcasing exciting new concepts for product design and retailing initiatives for the contemporary market place.
