BAFTA award-winning comedian Jo Brand returns to Birmingham City University this week to kick start the University’s City Talks series.
After being awarded with an honorary doctoral degree from the University in 2016, Jo returns to Birmingham on Wednesday 22 February where she will reflect on her early career, and her journey from psychiatric nursing to the alternative comedy stand-up scene.
With a successful career spanning over 25 years, Jo has entertained a whole host of audiences and has featured on television programmes such as ‘Getting On’, ‘QI’ and 'Have I Got News For You'. However comedy wasn't Jo’s original career choice and prior to this she trained as a mental health nurse.
Tickets to the event sold out within a week, however fans who were unable to secure tickets can watch the full event live from the University’s Facebook page. The talk will also be available to watch on YouTube after the event.
‘In Conversation with Jo Brand’ forms part of Birmingham City University’s City Talks series. The series features a programme of high profile speakers who share their views and insights on a range of topics, promoting the University's ambition and aim of being a 'university without walls'. The talks are free of charge, and open to the public.
